Update for October 5, 2020 @ 6:35 PM

WHCCISD received a report today that a middle school student was confirmed via testing to have COVID-19.  We received word that a secondary teacher/coach was confirmed over the weekend via testing to have COVID-19. We also have a staff member who is presumed positive due to having symptoms that could be COVID-19.

In collaboration with local health authorities and consideration of relevant state and federal health guidelines, the District has notified the parents of students whom we know had close contact with the student and teacher/coach who tested positive and staff member who is presumed positive and those students will be quarantined per health guidelines.  The District will thoroughly sanitize any areas that may have been affected.

Out of an abundance of caution, we advise you to monitor you and your student’s health and contact your primary care physician if you develop symptoms.  Should staff develop symptoms while at school, they should contact the appropriate District administrator should be immediately notified. Should staff develop symptoms while NOT at school, they should stay home and the appropriate District administrator should be immediately notified. Should your student develop symptoms while at school, they should immediately notify their teacher or administrator.  Should your student develop symptoms while NOT at school, they should stay home and notify the District via the COVID-19 hotline at (936) 274-5067 ext. *301.

If staff or students are in close contact with someone who has tested positive, or if they develop symptoms consistent with COVID-19, they should stay home and contact the appropriate administrator (for staff) or the COVID-19 hotline (for students).  Keeping our students, staff and community safe and healthy is our highest priority at this time.
