West Hardin Qualifies for OPS State

The West Hardin Golden Pride Band once again qualified for the State Outstanding Performance Series this past July. The OPS series is sponsored by ATSSB (The Association of Texas Small School Bands) The recordings submitted by the Golden Pride are judged at the region and area level before they can qualify for state. Each recording must place in the top two spots in order to go to the next round. West Hardin has now had recordings qualify on the state level for the past two years in a row and has ranked in the top 1 percent of all 1A bands in the state of Texas. CONGRATULATIONS Golden Pride Band!!!!!

Any parent that has a student in the West Hardin Band program is a band booster. Please help our students by helping in the concession stand on Friday nights, making pillows and accessories from the band uniforms, or helping with fundraising events. The band boosters are selling hand made pillows and accessories each Home game on the home side. Each item is made from the old band uniforms that have been in storage. Pictures of the items are on the band booster facebook page.

Report time is 5:30 pm. in your chair and in full uniform ready to warm up. Please remember your black socks and current band shirt. Students are graded for inspection. Students must all parts of their uniform in order to get a good inspection grade.

6th Grade Band Spring Trip

The 6th grade band will be taking a trip to Incredible Pizza in Conroe. Each student needs to bring $10 to Mr. Tucker by May 18, 2011. The trip will be on May 20, 2011 and we will leave from school that morning and be back before school is out. Students may bring extra money for games. Parents that are interested in being an chaperone can call the band office.

Report is 5:30 pm. at the West Hardin Band hall. Students will need to eat before they come to the band hall. Band members should also bring extra spending money if they want something from the concession stand at 3rd quarter break. After the game each band memeber will need to take their uniform home so that they can have them for the Oil Patch parade on Saturday.

OILPATCH PARADE SEPT 11, 2010

Students should report to the Methodist church in Batson at 9am. It is the small white church on the right. It is located between First Baptist Batson and the Batson Pentecostal Chuch. The parade starts at 10am.

Away Game Sabine Pass

Students will not have time to go home on this day. Students will need their 2010 band shirt as well as black socks. The Band department will be feeding the students on the way to the game. Students may still want to bring money for the concession stand at the third quarter break. Our return time will be late that night and is subject to change due to any delay of game situations.

Home Game Against Warren Warriors

Students should make sure to wear the 2010 band t-shirt and bring black socks to wear with band shoes. Band shoes are issued by the department. Report time is 5 pm in the band hall. It is recommended that students eat something before they report to the band hall but they should also bring some money to purchase food at the concession stand during third quarter break.

Monday Night Band Practice / Band Booster Concession Clean Up

First Monday night practice of the year. 6-8 pm. Band Parents will be meeting at this time to clean up and prepare for the first Home game against Warren. All participation from any parent or adult that would like to help our band kids is welcomed. You do not have to be a band parent to be a band booster.

Community Wide Pep Rally

West Hardin High School Band will be performing at the community wide pep rally.

Report time is 7:30 pm in the band hall. The pep rally starts at 8pm in the stadium.

Students should wear band t shirt for the current 2010 school year and blue jeans and tennis shoes.

Drum Major / Flag Corps tryouts

Once school has dismissed we will start as soon as we can. Closed tryouts will be held in the band hall. Tryouts could last as much as 1 1/2 hours. Students can contact parents once tryouts are completed.
