Donna GabryschDonna Gabrysch

My name is Donna Gabrysch. I teach high school science. The courses that I am teaching this year are Biology, Chemistry, Anatomy/Physiology and Physics.

I have been at West Hardin for 29 years. I have also taught at Kenedy High School in south Texas, and at Liberty Hill High School near Austin. If you are in my class, there is a very good chance that I may have taught your parents, or other relatives.

I attended college at Southwest Texas State University in San Marcos. Recently the name was changed to Texas State Universtity, but to me, it will always be SWT. I have a Bachelor of Science in Education degree with a major in Biology and a minor in Chemistry.

I am married and have two daughters. The oldest ( Jennifer)  recently graduated from UT in Austin and is planning to be married in September. The youngest is Janet. She is a junior at West Brook in Beaumont.

I also coach science and calculator. Coaching UIL teams is a lot of fun, but takes a lot of extra preparation. I spend a great deal of time learning how to work problems to help the team. Last year,  both the science and calculator teams advanced to regional, but almost everyone on last year's team graduated. This is a rebuilding year, but the students show a lot of potential.

When I am not at school, you might find me at a Rick Springfield concert. In the past 10 years, I have probably seen Rick in concert 25 times. I have learned that being on the front row is definitely the way to see a concert!

I am a member of the West End Baptist church in Beaumont, and attend church regularly. I strive daily to set a good example for my students.

I have a strong belief that every student is capable of learning, and my door is always open before and after school, and during lunch for anyone that needs extra help with an assignment. I encourage students to call me at home if they need extra help. My home phone number is 409/842-1941. I just request that all calls are before 10 pm.
