Distance Learning

Distance Learning is a cooperative effort between Lamar University-Beaumont and WHHS. Courses taught on campus at Lamar are transmitted via multimedia equipment to the Distance Learning Lab at West Hardin. Students earn dual credit - college and high school - simultaneously. These classes are weighted. In order for students to participate, they must meet the following two criteria:

  • Be admitted to Lamar University
  • Be TASP compliant

Some of the courses that are offered from Lamar are:

  • English 1301 & 1302
  • American History 1301 & 1302
  • World Literature 2331
  • College Algebra 1314
  • Political Science 2301 & 2302
  • General Psychology 2301
  • Economics 2301
  • American Literature 2326
  • Art Appreciation 1301

Adult students also have the opportunity to take classes from Lamar, thus avoiding the long drive. Night classes are also available after scheduling with Lamar and contacting the Counseling Office here at West Hardin.
